It explains why the Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro opted to select him as his trusted man between the posts ahead of Francis Uzoho.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Nwabali has played five matches at Afcon and conceded just one goal which came in Nigeria's Group A opening game against Equatorial Guinea.
His heroics have given Super Eagles a chance in the continental competition, a tournament they last won in 2013.
In the last few seasons, Kaizer Chiefs have not been stable in the goalkeeping department. Itumeleng Khune's contract ends at the end of this season, while Brandon Petersen has been erratic. Bruce Bvuma is currently Cavin Johnson's man in Amakhosi's goal.
With all these uncertainties, Nwabali has been linked with a move to the Glamour Boys, but his agent Mohammed Lawal has hinted at a bigger picture for the 27-year-old.
WHAT LAWAL SAID
"There is interest in France and Saudi Arabia. There is no surprise because of his performance during the Afcon tournament in Ivory Coast," Lawal said as quoted by SNL24.
"I have only seen [Kaizer Chiefs links] in newspapers. I cannot comment on anything regarding local interest, please speak to the chairman of the club."
WHAT NEXT
Currently, Nwabali is hoping to help Nigeria finish within the platform positions in the ongoing 34th edition of Afcon.
Chances of him remaining at Chippa United beyond this season are minimal, and a move abroad might see Chiefs miss out on the keeper.
