North Star Academy and Goals for Gambia have staged a five-day strategic football camp in Kerra Jatta, North Bank Region.

The football camp was attended by community members, including the Alkalo.

North Bank Region Football Association (NBRFA) rendered support to North Star Academy initiative.

The camp was attended by the president of North Bank Regional Football Association (NBRFA) Ebrima Ceesay and former president of NBRFA Abou Khan and other officials.

The football camp was supported by international stakeholders and partners such as Goals for Gambia.

The football camp was founded by high school students; and it seeks to support The Gambia by raising funds for projects in the country.

The football camp was witnessed by international stakeholders.

The first day of the football camp was marked by massive turnout by young players and community members, some of whom hailed from schools across North Bank Region, who were selected by the Academy to participate in the sporting event.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of North Star Football Academy, Ebou Jarra, delved into the turnout and the success of the first day.

"Here was great. You can see the kids,’’ Jarra said.

Jarra stated that for most of the kids, this was their first time to participate in the football camp.

“I am sure they were elated, they were happy. We distributed water, drinks and food to them," Jarra explained.

Jarra noted that with from support from Goals for Gambia, they were able to donate two boreholes, one to Fass Football Field and other to be decided by North Bank Regional Football Association (NBRFA).

He further noted that they would build a market for the Kerr Jatta community.

"So who knows in the next number of years, whether they would donate boreholes or hospital to the community. We wanted to bring medications, but we have a process to get those things done in the country. So we advised them to do it next time," Jarra posited.

Jarra disclosed that football camp participants would get gears and play without worries.

"We saw kids playing bare feet here. We want to make sure that participants get at least a football boot to play football”, he assured.
