The Media Run Challenge (MRC) has returned last Saturday with huge crowed.

The media run started from West Field to Laybato Beach.

The event attracted some media heads, senior military officers, senior police officers and others.

Pioneer of the event, Sang Mendy, spoke about the importance of the exercise despite spending 10 hours on bed.

Mendy thanked everyone for challenging themselves for waking up very early in the morning to join the media run.

‘‘It takes a big courage for one to challenge him/herself to do it,’’ Mendy said.

James Manga, police commissioner, stated that running is good especially for security and the media.

‘‘There was a misconception between the media and law enforcement and the event brought together the media and security and participated in the exercise.

‘‘For me this is the first time I have seen people that I have never seen in person,’’ Manga pointed out.

Deputy Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) of The Gambia Armed Forces (GAF), Major General Ousman Gomez, encouraged people to train to keep themselves fit.

‘‘If you are not fit you are likely to be sick,’’ Gomez pointed out.

He added that the media work demand fitness sometimes.

Speaking on behalf of the media, Lamin Cham of The Standard Newspaper, hailed the initiative, adding that the event would benefit the participants.

‘‘We all know that health is wealth, promoting health is promoting wealth,’’ Cham said.

Cham encouraged everyone to do exercise.
