Madina Salam reach KSD tourney quarterfinals

Madina Salam on Saturday defeated Batokunku 4-2 on post-match penalty shootouts after regulation time ended 1-1 in their round of sixteen tie played at the Gunjur Upper Basic School Football Field to reach the quarter-finals of the 2023 Approve Services (APS) sponsored Kombo South District football tournament.

The Madina Salam boys and the Batokunku boys were both keen to beat each other to advance to the last eight of the annual Kombo South District biggest football jamboree but regular time failed to produce a winner.

This pushed the match into post-match penalty shootouts, which ended 4-2 in favour of Madina Salam.

The victory earned Madina Salam a place in the quarter-finals of the 2023 Approve Services (APS) sponsored Kombo South District football tournament.

The defeat saw Batokunku out of the annual Kombo South District biggest football championship and will now hang their boots until next year.

Nyofelleh and Berending on Sunday also cruised to the quarter-finals of the 2023 Approve Services (APS) sponsored-Kombo South District football tournament after winning their round of sixteen matches.

Nyofelleh came from one-nil down to beat Jambanjelly 2-1 at the Sanyang Football Field to progress to the last eight of the annual Kombo South District football championship.

Berending defeated Sambuyang 5-4 on post-match penalty shootouts after regular time ended goalless at the Gunjur Upper Basic School Football Field to advance to the last eight of the yearly Kombo South District football tournament.

Meanwhile, Jambanjelly and Sambuyang are both out of the annual Kombo South District football tournament after losing to Nyofelleh and Berending in their round of sixteen matches.

The duo will now hang their boots until next year following their elimination from the yearly Kombo South District football championship.
