According to organisers, this year’s inter-school’s championship will be hosted in Central River Region, North Bank Region, West Coast Region and Kanifing Municipality respectively.
“This year’s championship will start in Basang, Central River Region. Bansang will host the year’s championship for both CRR and Upper River Region school’s zones from 3rd-5th February 2023. This is because the two zones are marched together into one zone,” said Ismaila Ceesay, president of the Gambia Secondary Schools Sports Association.
He added that last year, they were in Basse in URR.
“Farafenni Mini Stadium will host the schools in North Bank Region and Lower River Region from 10th-15th February 2023. The Senior Secondary and Basic Schools in these two regions will all converge at the Farafenni Mini Stadium, he added.
From 17th-19th February 2023 all Senior Secondary and Upper Basic Schools will hold their events at the Bottrop Senior Secondary School football ground in Brkama, he further said.
He added that from 24th-26th February, they will be at Abuko Upper Basic School, where KM and Banjul schools will hold their events.
“This time around KM schools will not be hosted at the Independence Stadium in Bakau as a result of the ongoing renovation. This has some bearings on the athletics finals because usually finals are always hosted at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.”
He added that they have tentatively decided that they will hold the finals at Bottrop Senior Secondary School football ground in Brkama if the stadium renovation is not done by March.
