She made these remarks at the just concluded women’s football festival held at the Sifoe Football Field with Yakarr Football Academy being crowned champions after defeating Marakissa 4-3 on post match penalty shootout following a stalemate in regulations time.
CEO Adama added that she was honoured with the success of the fourth edition of the women’s football festival.
“I have been organising the women festival for four years as part of my birthday celebrations,” she also said.
“I am passionate about football, so every year I dedicate my birthday celebration to gathering women footballers and admirers to celebrate with me,” she went on, adding that the objective of the festival is to promote female football, especially grassroots football but also encourages more women participation in sports.
As champions Yakarr football Academy received a giant trophy, footballs and gloves while runners up Marakissa received a trophy.
Best player of the football festival went to Susan Mendy of Yakarr who received D1000 from LBD Sports Agency & Media Network while the leading goal scorer went to Banna Jarju of Yakarr who received 2 footballs. Best defender was awarded to Esther Mendy of Marakissa. She went home with 2 foootball. Satang Kanuteh of Trust Academy bagged the best midfield award and she also received 2 footballs. The most disciplined team went to Kartong . All eight team that participated in the festival received a football each from Yakarr.
