The donated sports materials include football jerseys and football boots.
The donation was meant to support and motivate children in sports.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony held at the Farato Football Field, the president of Haken Fankanta Football Academy, Nfamara Dabo, stated that the presentation of football materials marks another historic day in the annals of Haken Fankanta Football Academy in Farato.
Dabo noted that the items are aimed at facilitating the work of the academy.
He stated that Haken Fankanta don’t treat football as sporting activity, adding that they treat football as skills development for the young people in the community.
The manager of Haken Fantanta Academy, Aziz Jagne, revealed that this is not first time his academy received such sports materials from Haken Sweden.
Jagne pointed out that their relationship with Haken Football team in Sweden is permanent relationship, adding that their relationship is going to continue forever.
He revealed that the donation was second of its kind.
According to Jagne, their main intention is to help children to do away from the danger of drugs such as ‘Kush’, marijuana and others.
Head of competition at the Farato Sports Committee, Haruna Cham, expressed delight over receiving the donation items, adding that football is very expensive.
He added that the donated football materials would help motivate children.
The founder of Haken Fankanta Football Academy, Nuha F. Korta, stated that the academy was established 10 years ago with 9 boys, adding that the academy is now rolling more than 150 children.
Korta revealed that they have different categories in their academy ranging from U-7, U-9, U-11, 13, U-15 and U-17.
He noted that their academy participated in the first edition of the national youth U-17 championship organised by Gambia Football Academies Association.
