Gunjur yesterday, 28 October 2025 celebrated their 2016 Super ‘nawettan’ trophy.
It could be recalled that Gunjur won their first-ever super nawettan trophy on 28 October 2016 after defeating Banjul 2-1 in a tightly-contested final played at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.
Left-back Essa Jallow gave Banjul the lead in the 18th minute of the match from the penalty spot after Yusupha Touray handled the ball inside the eighteen yard-box.
Salifu Bojang alias Bapa levelled matters for Gunjur in the 36th minute of the match from an astonishing strike.
Malang Jassey alias Uncle scored the winning goal for Gunjur in the 77th minute of the match from the penalty spot after prolific striker Lamin Jallow alias Sako was brought down inside the eighteen yard-box by defender Modou Lamin BS Touray.
Football lovers in Gunjur and its environs celebrated the Coastal Town 2016 super nawettan victory in spectacular fashions.
