GGA organises golf tournament to celebrate Gambia`s 58th Independence anniversary

The Gambia Golf Association (GGA) organised and sponsored a 9-hole golf tournament, in honour of The Gambia`s 58th Independence Anniversary. The tournament was played on 18th February 2023 at the Sir Dawda Jawara Golf Course Day, and featured 31 amateur and professional golfers.

 

There were 5 amateur prizes, with John Kibblewhite coming first, followed by Tracey Horton-Maher in second place, Alasana Jallow third, Kaushik Prajapati fourth and Glyn Dean in fifth place.

Three professional golfers of the GGA, Pa Famara J. J. Jatta, Anthony Jatta and Edrisa Jammeh all received an appearance fee of GMD3,000.

Speaking during the prize-giving ceremony held at Dandimayo Hotel, Matt Gribin, captain of the Golf Section at Fajara Club, thanked the GGA for organising the tournament. He reaffirmed Fajara Club`s commitment to continue working with the Gambia Golf Association to further develop the game of Golf in The Gambia.

Ram Mohan, the chairman of Fajara Club, wished all Gambians a happy 58th Independence Day and also thanked the GGA for a well-organised tournament.

For his part, Ebrima Jawara, the president of the Gambia Golf Association, thanked all the participants and congratulated the winners. He also reaffirmed the GGA`s commitment to further develop golf in The Gambia in close partnership with all stakeholders, including Fajara Club, the Gambia National Olympic Committee and National Sports Council.
