This sad event occurred on Monday afternoon at the Kanifing General Hospital.
Sambou was the team manager for Gunjur United Football Club and was one of the architects of the Coastal Town team's qualification to the national domestic league.
Reacting to the news, Bajo relayed on behalf of the GFF condolences to the bereaved family, Gunjur United Football Club and the football family for the loss of whom he described as an icon.
Sambou was a beacon of hope for the football family.
We will miss him dearly.
He contributed immensely to the growth of Gunjur United FC," Bajo said.
Sulayman Sambou was one of the greatest footballers to have hailed from the coastal town and is credited for his financial support to Gunjur United Football Club and the young people of Gunjur.
