The President of The Gambia Football Federation (GFF), Lamin Kaba Bajo has congratulated Hamza Barry after the Scorpion midfielder signed a two-year contract with Danish side Vejle Boldklub.

After a career-threatening injury, the diminutive Hamza returned to full fitness and after spending last season with the Los Angeles Galaxy in the United States. The Danes announced the capture of Barry, 27, in an attempt to make an immediate return to the top flight.

“Hamza is one of the most skilful and important players that The Gambia has ever produced. We were all very sad when he suffered that nasty injury but Alhamdullilah, we are happy that he has returned to full fitness. We pray that he now remains healthy throughout his career,” Mr. Bajo said of the former Gambia Ports Authority player.

“His long absence in the National Team has been felt by all his teammates, the coaching staff and everyone connected to Gambian football,” he added.

“He is very hardworking, dedicated, determined and above all discipline.”

“Thus, signing for an established and big club in the status of Vejle is indeed a heart-warming news for all of us.”
