The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) has applauded the Kingdom of Morocco after its joint bid with Spain and Portugal was announced as the host for the 2030 FIFA World Cup.

The decision by the FIFA Council came hot on the heels of the CAF ExCo’s decision to award the hosting rights of the 2025 African Cup of Nations to Morocco.

The President of the GFF, Lamin Kaba Bajo, described the decision as another welcome development and remarkable achievement for Morocco and its people and Africa in general.

In a similar development, the GFF boss also announced the Federation’s support for the Saudi Arabia bid for the 2034 World Cup after FIFA stated that the tournament would be played in either the Asian or Oceania confederations.

Bajo said the spectacle delivered by Qatar last year is a manifestation that the Gulf country is equally much prepared at every level to host the biggest football gathering in the world.

“Based on the very cordial and fruitful relationship between our two countries and federations, we will always support their cause.

Additionally, we’ve seen the desire of the Saudi’s to play a prominent role in the development and organization of the game, which is manifested in the influx of the world’s biggest footballers been snapped up by Saudi clubs,” Bajo said.

“Thus, not only are we supporting their bid, we urge other partners of the GFF and the world football at large to put their weight behind the Saudi bid.”
