He was laid to rest the following day Friday, 26 February 2021 at the Brikama Cemetery.

Kuyateh, 39, until his shocking demise, was the Head Coach of second division side Samger Football Club where he was halfway into a three-year contract signed with the team.

“Kuyateh was an amazing human being and an embodiment of a perfect gentleman. He was a family-oriented and an amazing human being both as a coach and a mentor to our players,” said his team Samger FC on their official Facebook page.

The club further said: “It is a sad day for football and a sad day for Gambia obviously because he is one of the very inspiring young coaches and he’s always had a talent that you could see.”
