Gambian football mourns demise of former national team custodian Wandeh Njie

Gambian football is currently mourning the demise of former national team goalkeeper Wandeh Njie.

Wandeh’s demise hit everyone like a tsunami.

 The hearts of football enthusiasts are heavy due to demise of the country’s former net-minder Wandeh Njie.

Football enthusiasts expressed hope that Wandeh is going to a better place than here.

President Lamin Kabba Bajo and Executive Committee of The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) have learnt the death of Wandeh boy, as he was affectionately called, with deep sorrow and sadness. The former Real de Banjul goalkeeper, captain and coach died in the United Kingdom where he has been living.

Wandeh guided Real de Banjul to many league titles.

He played for The Gambia national team multiple times.

Wandeh has been described by friends and family as a very sociable and humble person who attracted deep respect and charisma.

 The President of the GFF, Lamin Kabba Bajo, said the passing of the former Real de Banjul legend Wandeh Njie is a great loss to football and the country at large.

Bajo extended his condolences to Wandeh’s family, friends, loved ones and Real de Banjul in this very difficult times.

He also prayed for Wandeh’s soul to rest in peace.

Bajo stated that Wandeh was an icon whom many of the young players looked up to.

 He further stated that Wandeh contributed greatly to the country’s successes in football.

Bajo pointed out that Wandeh is one of those that laid the foundation of the country’s professional players today.
