Gambia para-basketball squad fail to qualify for Commonwealth Games despite D800K expenditure

The Gambia National Olympics Committee (GNOC) has provided financial support amounting to approximately D800,000 to The Gambia para-basketball team but the team failed to snatch qualification to the championship.

Despite their best effort, the team could not secure qualification to the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

GNOC has submitted a Tripartite Commission application to secure a participation opportunity for the team but it proved unsuccessful.

Despite the unfortunate circumstances, GNOC has conveyed its determination to continue rendering support to the Gambia National Paralympic Committee.

GNOC also expressed readiness to work with their relevant partners to create future opportunities for athletes development in The Gambia.
