Gunjur opened the scores through influential winger Ismaila Badjie alias Dennis in the 43rd minute of the match from a stunning strike.
Foni reacted quickly for an equaliser but were unable to unlock Gunjur’s solid defence line thus the first half ended 1-0 in favour of Gunjur.
Upon resumption of the match, Foni injected in several fresh legs to bolster their attacking department.
The Foni dominated Gunjur in the midfield and created many goal scoring opportunities.
Gunjur United prolific striker Musa Joof leveled the scores for Foni in the 87th minute of the match from a towering header following substitute Francis Gomez’s brilliant cross.
This pushed the match into post-match penalty shootouts which ended 4-1 in favour of Foni.
As champions, Foni went home with medals, a giant trophy and a cash prize of D45, 000 while Gunjur received medals and D35, 000 as runners-up.
