Mbenga was speaking to journalists shortly after his side’s 5-0 victory over the Central Bank of The Gambia in their opening match of the 2024 late governor Famara Jatta inter-bank football tournament played at the King George 5 Mini Stadium in Banjul on Friday.
“We trained two weeks prior to our game against the Central Bank of The Gambia. We played test games with other banks to prepare better for the annual late governor Famara Jatta inter-bank football tournament,’’ Coach Mbenga said.
Coach Mbenga expressed delight over his team’s “brilliant display” against the Central Bank of The Gambia, adding that his team was eager to score more goals to lead the group.
He stated that first game is very important in any competition.
Head coach of Central Bank of The Gambia, Abdoulie Janneh, stated that his side prepared well for their match against FBN Bank but lost to their opponents 5-0.
‘‘We have new players in team who were not regular during training sessions but we would go back to the drawing board and prepare well for our next game,’’Coach Janneh noted.
