Falcons top GFF 1st Division League

Falcons have ended the first round of the Gambia Football Federation (GFF) First Division League at the top of the table standing with a five-point lead above second place.

The Blue Armed defeated Gamtel 2-1 during their week-15 fixture played at the Bakau Mini Stadium on Friday.

The Telecom Giants took the lead in the 20th minute but Fakebba Jammeh scored a brace for Falcons in the 44th and 78th minutes respectively to earn them the maximum points.

The victory maintains Falcons at the top of the table standings with 32 points while Gamtel occupy 11th position with 16 points.

Elsewhere, Real de Banjul were forced to a barren goalless draw by Brikama United during a game played at the Box Bar Minim Stadium in Brikama.

The result puts Real de Banjul at 2nd position with 27 points while Brikama United sit 10th position with 16 points.

Wallidan defeated PSV Wellingara 2-1 during a game played at the Banjul KG5 Mini Stadium.

Muhammed Sarr and John Gomez scored for Wallidan in the 50th and 84th minutes while Yankuba Ceesay scored the only goal for PSV Wellingara in the 61st minute.

The victory moved Wallidan to 3rd position with 25 points while PSV Wellingara occupy rock-bottom (16th) position with 10 points.

Team Rhino played a 1-1 draw against the Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) during a game played at the Late Ousman Saho Field in Old Yundum.

Francis Cole gave GAF the lead in the 15th minute before Alieu Fatty leveled the game for Team Rhino in the 19th minute.

The result puts GAF at 4th position with 22 points while Team Rhino occupy 8th position with 20 points.
