The Sannehmentereng boys and the Foni boys drew 2-2 in a nail biting final played at the Brikama Box Bar Mini Stadium on Sunday
Modou Lamin Colley could have opened the scores for Foni in the 2nd minute of the match from Edrisa Gibba’s brilliant cross but his header went some inches over the cross bar.
Striker Omar Jarju gave Brufut the lead in the 7th minute of the match after capitalizing on Foni’s massive defensive blunder.
Bakary Kujabi came very close to levelling matters for Foni in the 12th minute of the match but his powerful header was saved by Brufut’s net-minder Sheikh Daffeh.
Modou Lamin Colley levelled matters for Foni in the 16th minute of the match from Edrisa Gibba’s astonishing pass.
Ismaila Sonko scored the second goal for Brufut in the 27th minute of the match after capitalizing on Foni’s defensive error.
Foni reacted for an equaliser but were unable to penetrate Brufut formidable defence line thus the first half ended 2-1 in favour of Brufut
Upon resumption of the match, Foni introduced several fresh legs to bolster their attacking tag.
The Foni boys dominated Brufut in the midfield department and crafted numerous goal scoring opportunities.
Captain Famara Jarju restored parity for Foni in the 73rd minute of the match from a thunderous strike thus the match ended 2-2.
The 2024 West Coast Region zonal football tournament final is now set for18th February 2025 at the Brikama Box Bar Mini Stadium at 4.30pm.
