Beatrice Allen elected new GNOC president

Beatrice Allen has been elected new president of The Gambia National Olympic Committee (GNOC) at a congress held at GNOC conference hall on Saturday 27 November 2021.

Madam Allen defeated opponent Lamin King Colley in the race for the presidency after securing 25 votes. Her opponent King Colley secured 17 votes. 

Nine Olympic sports and seven non-Olympic sports voted for the new GNOC president while five Olympic sports and seven non-Olympic sports voted for the loser. 

Lamin Kaba Bajo was elected Madam Allen’s first vice president with 27 votes. The Gambia Football Federation president beat opponent Bai Dodou Jallow in the race.

Former GNOC Treasurer Ousman Wadda was elected second vice president with 26 votes while his competitor Johnny Gomez secured 16 votes. 

Yorro Njie secured the Secretary General seat after securing 24 votes while the loser Peter Prom got 18 votes.

Muhammad Jagana was elected Treasurer with 23 votes while his competitor Abdoulie M.A. Jallow secured 19 votes. 

Six individuals in Sering Modou Faye, Timothy Colley, Ba Kebba Suso, Pa Assan Sylva, Momodou Suwareh and Ebrima Jawara contested for three board members seats. Pa Assan Sylva, Ba Kebba Suso and Timothy Colley were elected with 26, 24 and 23 votes respectively.

David Hafner, Adama Jammeh and Gina Bass were nominated to serve in the GNOC board. 

Newly elected president Beatrice Allen in her acceptance statement, said they will work on delivering on their manifesto. She called on all to work together in the interest of the athletes. She also expressed her willingness to reform GNOC.
