Jallow was elected as GNOC president after defeating Muhammed M. Jagana 24 votes to 21 in an election held at the Paradise Suits Hotel in Senegamba on Saturday.
Lamin King Colley was elected as the first vice president unopposed, while Bakary K. Jammeh was elected as the second vice president.
Yorro Njie was elected as the secretary general, while Bai Madi Ceesay was elected treasurer.
Bakebba Susso, Abdoulie M. Kah, and Amie Jabang are all elected as board members.
Speaking at the congress shortly after his election as the president of GNOC, Bai Dodou Jallow commended the outgoing board for their fantastic job.
Jallow commended also GNOC for organising a “very successful AGM,” adding that this would go a long way in strengthening their democratic dispensation especially at the GNOC.
He thanked the outgoing president Beatrace Allen for her efforts, adding that they have learned a lot from Allen when it comes to Olympic issues in The Gambia.
Jallow stated that Allen would continue to hold the IOC honourary member.
“‘We would continue to work with Allen because of her experience and guidance,” Jallow said.
Jallow thanked the electoral commission for organising a very successful election.
He also thanked the delegates for mataining maturity during the AGM and election.
He hailed the media and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, who were represented by the acting director of the National Sports Council.
“We are going to be focused during the next four years. We would try to do our best to follow the direction of their manifesto which focuses more on the athletes in the country from the various national sporting associations,” Jallow said.
He urged the national associations to give them their support.
Acting Director of NSC, Mahmud Lamin Jawla, stated that the election was historic, adding that they wanted to maintain peace.
‘‘We have different opinions but our aim is to see GNOC move towards right direction and develop in The Gambia through sports,’’ Jawla said.
