All African Games: Gina Bass, Ebrima Camara snatch spots in 100M finals

Gambian athletes, Mariam Gina Bass Bittaye and Ebrima Camara have both secured a place in the final of the Women’s and Men’s 100 metres race of the ongoing 13th African Games, Accra 2023 on Monday.

Gina Bass booked her place in the final after finishing 1st position with a timing of 11:37 seconds in the semifinal race.

The 28-year-old finished 1st position in the women’s 100 metres heat one with a timing of 11:35 seconds.

The Tubakuta-born Olympian, who last won a silver medal in the African Games, will be the favourite to win the women’s 100 metres race final.

Meanwhile, The Gambia’s 100 metre men’s record holder Ebrima Camara has qualified for the men’s 100 metres race final of the 13th African Games, Accra 2023 on Monday.

The 27-year-old finished 2nd position in the semifinal with a timing of 10:45 seconds.

The Gambian-born athlete showed a magnificent performance after finishing 1st position with a timing of 10:49 second during his heat 1 in the 100 metre race.

Adama Jammeh and Alieu Joof both set to miss the final.

Jammeh failed to reach the final after finishing 4th position with a timing of 10:57 seconds in the semifinal.

Alieu Joof is set to miss the final after failing to participate in the semi-finals due to injury.

He finished 2nd position in the heat with timing of 10:71 seconds.
