Gambian international player Ali Sowe has responded to remours linking him away from Bulgarian top flight side CSKA Sofia, saying: “I am here and happy in CSKA Sofia”.

The Serekunda-born player made these remarks after scoring during CSKA Sofia 3-1 win over Botev Vrastsa in their winter friendly game played at the Stadion Balgarska Armia on Tuesday.

The 26-year-old who scored his side equaliser was presented the foreign-based player of the year 2020 award recently.

The former Gamtel FC striker who is contracted to CSKA Sofia until 2022 has been attracting interest from European top clubs in France, Turkey and recently in Italy (Genoa) but the Scorpions striker stated that he is happy and is staying with the Bulgarian side.

"I am here and I am happy in CSKA. I have the same goals in front of me - to give my best so that the team (CSKA Sofia) can win. I am happy to be here and I am fully focused on training.”

He also reacted to the award and said that it means a lot to him, adding that he would like to win more awards in future.

“This award means a lot. The award brings me satisfaction and extra motivation. I want to earn even more".

Ali Sowe started his professional career with Italian side Chievo in 2013 and later underwent several loans before signing a permanent contract with CSKA Sofia in 2019.
