"We are honoured to host AIPS congress for the first time.
The congress was more than a meeting," Jarju said.
Jarju underscored The Gambia's growing presence within the international sports community.
"We deliberate on digital media, AI and political sports journalism," Jarju said.
Jarju pointed out that they are not discussing trends but they are shaping the future narrative of African sports.
Jarju called for collaborative efforts to ensure that sports journalism remains the back of sports development across Africa.
He thanked government through Ministry of Youth and Sports for their support.
Jarju also thanked partners, The Gambia National Olympic Committee, The Gambia Football Federation and all sporting associations for their supports.
He commended the local organising committee for their hard work and dedication.
Jarju also commended The Gambia Immigration Department and The Gambia Police Force for rendering support to sports journalism in country.
President of Global AIPS, Gianni Merlo, called for collaborative efforts to ensure professionalism becomes the backbone of sports in Africa.
He stated that Sports is a culture and need collaboration to educate the world.
"We have to work together to achieve our goal, "Merlo said.
Deputizing the minister of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services, Kordu Jabang welcomed AIPS Africa Congress delegates to The Gambia.
"We are proud to host this high level meeting," Jabang said. Jabang revealed that choosing The Gambia to host AIPS congress was not haphazard, adding that the country deserves right to host the event.
She further revealed that the past nine years under the leadership of President Barrow have witnessed unprecedented progress in press freedoms and sporting successes.
