Gunjur United have climbed to fifth-place in the 2023-2024 Gambia Football Federation (GFF) Division Two League after BK Milan lost to Immigration 2-1in their week-31 match played at the Late Ousman Saho Football Field in Old Yundum on Thursday.

The Coastal Town boys drew goalless with Jam City in the all-Kombo South derby clash played at the Brikama Box Bar Mini Stadium on the same day.

Gunjur United needed the maximum points to increase their chances of gaining promotion to the First Division League, while Jam City required the significant three points to bolster their dreams of staying in the country’s Second Tier for another season despite their dismal performance in the league.

Jam City dominated the match and created numerous goal scoring opportunities but failed to capitalise on them.

Gunjur United, who were unable to contain Jam City in the match, also crafted some goal scoring chances but failed to materialise on them thus the match ended goalless.

The draw earns Gunjur United 5th place on the country’s Second Tier table with 48 points in 31 league matches.

Jam City occupy 15th place on the Second Division League table with 33 points after 31 league matches.
