The management of the University of The Gambia and executive members of the University of The Gambia Students Union recently held a meeting with officials of the Gambia Transport Service Company (GTSC).

The meeting was to discuss the transportation dilemma many students currently face in attending lectures at the University of The Gambia Faraba Banta Campus.

On behalf of the entire students at the University, the student union expressed clear dissatisfaction over the current realities of the transportation services provided by GTSC.

Also, some of the issues raised before the panel of stakeholders included the failure to adhere to designated pick-up points, the inadequacy of the buses both in size and number, and the inconsistencies in departure times.

The student body firmly underscored that the operational challenges have regrettably affected the convenience and well-being of students, especially those who rely on these services to attend their lectures at Faraba Banta Campus.

Reacting to these concerns raised by students, GTSC officials while acknowledging the validity of the student body’s concerns, reassured their commitment to amicably and speedily address these matters.

Meanwhile, as the student body expressed hope for swift and sustainable solutions, it equally commended the management of the University for involvement in the meeting, which say, is geared towards bringing about solutions to the challenges students face.
