His comments came in recognition of secondary schools’ efforts particularly Nusrat school’s strives in producing not only quality education but also its endeavors to inculcate good morals into young ones with proper guidance.
President Barrow made these comments during an interview with reporters at the end of his 2022 ‘meet the people’ tour at State House in Banjul after visiting many schools in the Kombos including other ongoing government infrastructural development.
It could be recalled that President Adama Barrow embarked on his constitutional ‘meet with the people’ tour under the theme “together we can accelerate socio-economic growth and maintain peace and stability” to give him the opportunities to interact with communities in various regions to disclose their concerns and challenges faced through directly meeting with the head of state for possible interventions.
Consequently, various challenges and needs were highlighted by communities across the country including the need for government provision of enough potable water, electricity supply, good roads, infrastructural development, hospitals, among others.
President Barrow noted that the reason for his visit to Nusrat was to assess the ongoing infrastructural work at the school. He added that the school needed infrastructural expansion due to the continuous growth which; why government intervened to help expand its infrastructural pursuit.
The visit he said was also to know how government intervention is impacting the school, saying they are still demanding for more classrooms.
“We all know Nusrat is a very good school. It is a school that produces quality for less money,” he confirmed.
Earlier on, President Barrow visited other schools such as Tujereng which was under a project called Kuwaiti Fund that has about 250 classrooms. The project which is for a 12 month period, he said is ongoing all over the Gambia at the same time.
