The donated items include one hundred bags of rice (25KG) and one hundred bags of onion. The donation was meant to support vulnerable people during the difficult period of the raining season. One hundred and fifty families (widows, orphans and elderly) benefited from the gesture.
Lamin Jobe, program manager for (MGR) said the Covid-19 pandemic coupled with the Ukrainian-Russian war has brought a lot of hardship to the globe.
According to him, fuel prices, food items and transportation fares are increasing on a daily basis thereby making life difficult for ordinary people. He said it for these reasons they decided to assist orphans and widows.
Mr. Jobe added that, they have previously drilled boreholes for needy communities, donated school materials and renovated various schools as well as carried out other projects in The Gambia.
Beneficiaries expressed appreciation and gratitude to donors, saying the donation came at the right time.
They assured donors that the food items would go a long way in complementing their daily sustenance.
