The move, according to Mayor Bensouda, is not the first time his municipality had hosted such an event.
“We have done this over the years and we want to keep up the tradition. It’s the annual Iftar program for all residents of KM. Ramadan is a month of giving and helping the needy and Iftar is a very important part of Ramadan. ”
To that end, he urged people who have the means to extend helping hands to the needy and the less privileged.
Famara Fofana, Councillor of Kololi Ward, commended the Mayor for such an initiative.
“This is something we do every year in the month of Ramadan under the leadership of Lord Mayor Bensouda and it is very important because Ramadan is a month of sharing and giving out.”
Fatou Saho, one of KM residents that benefitted from the Iftar, while thanking Mayor Bensoudna for the foresight and the gesture, reminded that Ramadan is a special month for Muslims and every wealthy Muslim who has the means to support the less privileged in soceity.
“I thank our Lord Mayor for this wonderful initiative and I urge people who have the means to help anyone in the month of Ramadan as Ramadan is a month that daily expenses are much highier on families especially the less privileged.”
