The Chief Executive Officer for Maa Foundation for Women, Fatoumatta Jawara Dukureh, recently visited the project site in Hella Kunda village in the Jimara District of the Upper River Region.

The visit, according to officials, was to enable the CEO to interact with the beneficiary and also look at the impact the project has on the beneficiaries.

The foundation is currently implementing Fashion 4 Leadership Project, a transformative initiative funded by the UN Peace-building Fund through the UNFPA and the Ministry of Gender, Children & Social Welfare.

The project which has also been coordinated by the foundation in partnership with the Network Against Gender Based Violence (NGBV), The Gambia, is aimed at empowering women and young girls to take active roles in politics and leadership.

During her visit, CEO Jawara engaged with the training team, Ida's Ideas Fashion & Design School and also interacted directly with the young girls who are currently benefiting from the project.

The discussions, officials said, highlight their progress, challenges, and aspirations, thus reaffirming the importance of collaborative efforts in driving sustainable change.

Speaking during the site visit, CEO Jawara extended her heartfelt “gratitude to all their partners for unwavering support,” she stated, while also commending inhabitants of Hella Kunda for their collaboration and dedication, something she said will go a long way towards achieving their objectives.

“This initiative is a testament to what we can achieve when we unite for a common goal. Together, not just supporting women’s participation in leadership and politics, but building a legacy of empowerment, resilience, and progress,” she emphasised.
