The conference took place from 25th-29th January, 2023.
The theme of this year's Global Platform of City and Local Governments was “Building Sustainable Cities and Communities and addressing other Challenges Facing the Families of the World.”
The conference held at Double Tree Hilton Hotel, Orlando Downtown was attended by Mayors from within the United States, Caribbean, Europe and Several African countries as well as executives from the public and private sectors.
Hon. Sonko expressed optimism that the event will set a renewed direction for global collaboration in building sustainable and resilient cities and communities as enshrined in the Global Agenda 2030 and Agenda 2060.
While commending Honourable Johnny Ford, Founder and CEO of World Conference of Mayors and team for the foresight in convening the conference, Sonko added that the conference is of great importance as it draws global attention to the critical need for building sustainable cities and communities while holistically addressing other global challenges.
He stated that the global dialogue will also serve as a platform for exchanging experiences, sharing lessons learned, and making recommendations on policy frameworks for building sustainable cities and communities and addressing global challenges.
CEO Sonko was accompanied by Alhagie Jeng and Adama Bojang Director of Finance and Director of Planning and Development respectively.
