The training was designed to empower staff with the essential skills to effectively respond to emergencies and save lives.
Addressing the gathering, Ebrima Sisawo, a senior nursing officer and emergency response trainer at the Bundung Maternal and Child Hospital, emphasised the importance of safety training for ferry service workers.
He described the training as vital in preventing accidents and injuries while fostering a stronger culture of safety within the industry.
The safety training, Sisawo added, will further equip GFS staff with the requisite skills to recognise potential hazards and implement protective measures, ultimately minimising the risk of accidents and injuries.
Sisawo also emphasised that the training would significantly enhance the safety culture and improve safety behaviors among both employees and passengers.

He equally underscored the significance of safety training for ferry service personnel, affirming that it will greatly prepare them to effectively manage any emergencies that may occur on board.
Sheriffo Nyassi, Human Resources Manager at The Gambia Ferry Service, stressed the critical importance of training for their staff, considering the nature of their work.
