Momodou Ndow and Mustapha Njie alias Taf were recently awarded in recognition of their outstanding achievement in their respective endeavors.
Reacting to the award Mustapaha Njie alias Taf stated recently: “I am so delighted to report that my book -‘TAF the Builder’ alongside ‘The Mischievous Mosquitos of Banjul’, both published by Fye Network, are placed third in their individual categories at the Book Fest Awards.”
‘TAF the Builder’, which was competing against more than 400 children's books, is a book that was designed to inspire children everywhere but most especially African Children by highlighting my humble origins and achievements to date and also demonstrating that dreams really do come true.
“I am grateful and humbled to receive this distinction. I must say a very big thank you to the Fye Network for doing this with me. It wouldn’t have been possible without you reaching out and of course without the publication.” he added.
The Real Estate mogul thanked all those who have supported him since the publication of the book, including the purchasers from The Gambia, young readers and even those in the Diaspora for their patronage.
Similarly, Momodou Ndow, another Gambian author based in the United States expressed similar sentiments.
“I am pleased and honoured to announce that ‘The Mischievous Mosquitoes of Banjul’ won 3rd place at the BookFest Awards. In competition with more than 400 children's books in the same category, The Banjul Mosquitoes managed to reach the summit. Books were submitted from around the world.”
The BookFest Awards, he added, honors authors who create outstanding works of fiction and non-fiction.
“Books are judged in categories based on genre, theme, and aesthetics. Entries are vetted by an initial team, then the final places would be determined by an elite team of experts in the literary and entertainment world.”
Ndow informed that when his publisher informed him that they would submit his book to The BookFest Awards, he said had no idea what it was all about.
“In fact, that was the first time I heard about it. I wrote this story 10 years ago, and to see it go from a mere article to an award-winning book is surreal. I am truly humbled.”
The author extended thanks to his publisher, Fye Network for the incredible work they did to bring the story to life, whilst also thanking all those who supported or encouraged him in one way or another.
