LEAP Africa is a youth-focused leadership development organisation committed to raising leaders that would transform Africa.
As part of the commemorations, ChildFund mobilised youth in a caravan over the weekend in Brikama where volunteers cleared huge deposits of refuse from the streets and disposed of them at rubbish dump sites.
Speaking in Brikama, the Programme and Sponsorship director at ChildFund, Nfamara Dabo, commended youth for their large turnout to volunteer in the cleansing exercise in Brikama. He urged them to remain committed to environmental preservation and protection because the earth is the “only place that we humans have.”
ChildFund also invited officials from the National Environment Agency and the NDMA who sensitised participants on environmental issues and how to protect our environment from destruction.
Youths also participated in a massive tree planting exercise in Faraba Banta, Tanjeh and Jonieri, all in the West Coast Region, where over 3000 seedlings including mangroves were planted.
