In a dramatic escalation of Uganda’s anti-corruption drive, security agencies on Monday raided the residence of former Speaker of Parliament Anita Among, seizing luxury vehicles including a Rolls-Royce Cullinan valued at over Shs 3.4 billion.

The operation, carried out at her Mutungo-Kigo mansion in Wakiso District, was led by the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) with support from the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) and Defence Intelligence. Officers impounded the Rolls-Royce alongside a Range Rover bearing registration plate AAA3.

Authorities say the raid is part of ongoing investigations into alleged illicit enrichment and misuse of public funds. President Yoweri Museveni is reported to have sanctioned the crackdown, signaling a tougher stance against high-level corruption.

Among, who has faced mounting scrutiny in recent months, was not present during the raid. Her legal team has condemned the operation as politically motivated, while government officials insist the seizures are evidence-driven.

The vehicles are now in custody as investigators trace the financial trail behind their acquisition. Analysts note that the seizure of such high-profile assets marks one of the most visible steps yet in Uganda’s campaign to restore public trust in governance.
