SIS hosts West Africa intelligence heads confab today

The country’s State Intelligence Service (SIS) under the leadership of its Director General Ousman Sowe is hosting the biggest convergence of the Committee of Intelligence and Security Services of Africa (CISSA), The Point has been reliably informed.

The SIS Director General Ousman Sowe is the chair of the CISSA after he was unanimously re-elected by the 15 Regional Member Services of ECOWAS earlier this year.

The theme for this year’s convergence is: ‘Amid regional volatilities, the needs to close capacity gaps and enhance coordination to effectively counter terrorism in West Africa and Sahel Region.

“I can tell you that the SIS under the current leadership is doing a good job both within the country and outside. Their efforts are well recognised internationally. This is the kind of service and leadership that Gambians were yearning to have,” our source posited.

The two days convergence, our source went on, will avail participants the opportunity to discuss issues of affecting West Africa with a view to addressing them especially on terrorism related issues among others.

The SIS DG was first selected as chair of the Region in June 2019 when SIS hosted a regional meeting in Banjul and again in 2021.
