Police in the North Bank Region (NBR) have arrested one Ali Ndow, a Senegalese national who was reported to have broken the leg of one Sgt. Kalilou Fadera, a personnel of the Police Intervention Unit (PIU), The Point has been reliably informed.

The suspect Ali Ndow, a commercial driver in Senegal is currently detained at the Farafenni Police Station as investigation into the matter continues. It could be recalled that Sgt. Fadera had his leg broken, after the said officer hung himself against a vehicle that refused to stop at a police checkpoint.

An anonymous source confirmed the development to The Point, saying: “The news about the arrest of the suspect was a welcoming development for security personnel in the metropolitan town of Farafenni and including some Gambian drivers. I can tell you that the Senegalese drivers have no regard for The Gambian Police.”

“If such incident had happened in Senegal, the Gambian driver would have lost his vehicle and that particular driver would have never entered Senegal again as a driver. At the moment I can’t confirm to you whether the suspect is charged or not, however, what’s clear is that he is currently detained at the Farafenni Police Station waiting further actions.”
