During the discussions, Senegalese officials informed the committee that all Gambians who own or cultivate farmland within Senegalese territory must immediately cease all farming activities.
Authorities further directed that all village heads in the region must register the farmlands belonging to Gambians, including the number of hectares involved.
The officials warned that any village head in Casamance who fails to comply will face the full force of the law. They noted that the directive came “from the highest authorities” in Senegal and stressed that Gambians should be properly informed.
Separately, sources say President Bassirou Diomaye Faye of Senegal was expected on Sunday to dispatch a delegation to meet with President Adama Barrow to discuss the issue.
