Police intercept 19 intending irregular migrants

The Gambia Police Force, through its Police Intervention Unit (PIU) Post at the Bottrop checkpoint, intercepted nineteen (19) alleged irregular migrants at Bonto Riverside in the early hours of October 7, 2025, at about 05:45 hours.

The group comprised sixteen (16) Senegalese nationals, two (2) Gambians, and one (1) Malian. Acting on credible intelligence, PIU officers swiftly proceeded to the location, where the individuals were found. According to reports, the alleged migrants informed officers that they were awaiting a boat to transport them to Spain.

All nineteen individuals were subsequently escorted to the Brikama PIU Base and handed over to Immigration officials for further investigation and necessary action.

The Gambia Police Force reiterates its commitment to safeguarding lives and properties and to upholding national security through proactive law enforcement operations.
