Point’s editor awarded

Osman Kargbo, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of The Point newspaper, has been recognised and honoured with an award for his outstanding performance in the practice of journalism over the years.

Mr Kargbo was graced and bestowed with the award of Media Practitioner of the Year 2023 by the Gambia-based international organisation called All Walks of Life (AWOL-Gambia) at the organisation’s National Achievement Award and Gala Dinner held at Pencha Mi Hall in Senegambia on Friday 15 December 2023.

AWOL is an apolitical organisation with branches and offices in various countries around the world including The Gambia, Sierra Leone, the UK, and the United States.

AWOL observes, researches, assesses and takes note of individuals and organisations that have relentlessly and diligently served their communities, nations and humanity at large using their professions and skills to contribute to the development of their countries and societies.

Mr Kargbo, a practising journalist, has served society through his profession for the advancement of nations and human kind, along the way recruiting and training young people in the media.

Over the years, he has worked with several newspapers and magazines serving as reporter, editor and proofreader in The Gambia and Sierra Leone.

“I want to thank the Almighty God for this honour and recognition of my work and service in the media industry,” he says. “I would like to thank The Point newspaper management and my colleague journalists for their support to me over the years. I therefore dedicate the award to The Point newspaper.

Concluding he said: “I must also thank and commend AWOL-Gambia for their service to humanity and for recognising the good work and diligent services of individuals and organisations in The Gambia and the world over.”
