Operation clear roads and public highways resumes today

The Special Task Force Against Illegal Encroachment of Permanent and Temporary Structures on Public Spaces, known as 'Operation Clear the Roads,' will resume operations on April 15, 2024, following the expiration of the government's moratorium.

The public is hereby informed and urged to cooperate with the Taskforce, as the exercise aims to enhance public safety, public health, and infrastructure quality for our common prosperity.

Furthermore, members of the business community are reminded to clean up all debris that has accumulated during this period.

Police arrest an alleged murderer                                              

The Piccadilly Police Post arrested a 60-year-old man for the alleged murder of FatouDrammeh, a 17-year-old female student from LatrikundaSabiji, on Friday, April 12, 2024.

The victim reportedly fell from the third floor of a building. The body of the deceased is currently at the Edward Francis Teaching Hospital mortuary.

The public is strongly urged to exercise restraint and to report matters to the police for proper handling of domestic issues.

Meanwhile, police have reported two murder cases in Abuko and Sukuta respectively.

Police arrest 21 for alleged illegal possession of communication items

The Anti-Crime Unit arrested twenty-one (21) Nigerians for alleged illegal possession of communication items on Saturday, April 13, 2024.

The police operation was based on intelligence gathered about suspicious activities involving a group of individuals residing in an apartment in SanchabaSulayJobe.

Their arrest was followed by a detailed search of the residence, resulting in the recovery of various communication gadgets, including AFRICELL and QCELL GSM SIM cards, smartphones, iPhones, laptops, Rolex watches, routers, and a diamond tester.

Investigators are currently probing the matter to determine the veracity of the allegations and relevant charges.

The Office of the Inspector General of Police urges the public to continue supporting the police in crime prevention and detection efforts.
