During a debate on the FPAC report on the current Estimates of Revenue and Expenditures 2024, Hon. Ceesay argued that the Office of the President’s traveling expenditure needs to be reduced from D66 million to D40 million.
At least 26 members voted for it to remain D66 million while 9 members voted no.
Hon Sulayman Saho, the lawmaker for Central Badibu, also proposed for the President’s Provincial Expenditures to be reduced from D30 million to 15 million – a proposal which was turned down by 26 against 15 votes.
The majority leader and lawmaker for Kantora, Billy Tunkara, said he sees nothing wrong with the amount allocated for the traveling expenses of the Office of the President. “The president has every right to travel whenever he deems it necessary at any given time. The amount they allocated for him is reasonable,” he argued.
