The Ministry hereby reminds the general public that such practice is against the Motor Traffic (Amendment) Act 2013 of The Gambia (Section78).
Section 78 states that a person who drives or causes any other person to drive on the road a motor vehicle or to draw on a road a trailer which does not comply with all the requirements of this Act or any other prescribed requirement commits an offence.
On that note, all vehicles plying the roads without headlights, reflectors and mirrors on them within the country are required to ensure that their vehicles are road worthy and that all the above are in order.
This Ministry wishes to reiterate to the general public that this is a traffic and security concern and so all vehicle owners and drivers are called upon to comply with the regulations stipulated in the Motor Traffic (Amendment) Act 2013. Anyone found wanting will have their vehicle impounded and they will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
The general public’s cooperation is therefore highly solicited.
