Principal Magistrate A. Mendy of the Brikama Magistrates’ Court has remanded Lamin Jobe, who stands accused of raping a four-year-old girl from the West Coast Region.
Mr Jobe was arraigned before the Magistrates’ Court on 3rd July 2025, on a single count of rape, contrary to Section 3(1)(d) and punishable under Section 4(1)(a)(ii) of the Sexual Offences Act, 2013.

According to the particulars of the offence, Mr Jobe, on Friday 27 June 2025 at Brikama Gidda in the West Coast Region of The Gambia, allegedly had sexual intercourse with a four-year-old girl (name withheld), causing her serious bodily harm, including tearing of the perineal area. The accused, who was unrepresented in court, denied the charge when it was read to him in a language he understood.
