The accused is charged with being in possession of prohibited drug contrary to section 35(1)(a) of the Drug Control Act, 2003.
According to the particulars of offence, Ousman Kamara on 15 October 2023 at Manjai Kunda in the Kanifing Municipality had in his possession 12g, 780mg of cannabis (Kush), a prohibited drug, and he pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Prosecutor Ceesay, who appeared for the Drug Law Enforcement Agency (DLEAG) said despite the alarming nature of concern, the offence the accused is charged with is a bailable one which he would not object to but would urge the court to caution the accused to appear in court after being bailed.
Magistrate Colley, in his ruling, granted the accused bail of D50,000 or 2 sureties, and he should report to the Manjai Police once every week failure of which, his bail should be revoked.
