The accused was charged with a count of breaking into a building contrary to section 283(b) and stealing contrary to Section 252 of the Criminal Code Cap 10:01 Volume 3 laws of The Gambia.
The prosecution alleged that Aiah Williams, on or about 28 April 2024 broke into a building of Family Planning Association at Kanifing, therein with the intend of committing felony and also stole the following items: a printer valued at D25,000, 3 wax clothes valued at D2,400, Mbasayn valued at D6,500, 2 CPU keyboards, computer screen and a mouse valued D58,000, two flash drives valued D600, external drive valued D400 and a laptop valued D15,000 amounting to a total value of One hundred and seven thousand nine hundred dalasis( D107,900) all being the property of Family Planning Association in Kanifing.
The prosecuting officer, Sergeant Saffie Bah, who appeared for the Inspector General of Police, applied for an adjournment to provide the court with witness.
Magistrate Touray, in his ruling, granted the accused bail in the sum of D150,000 or 2 Gambian sureties who shall deposit their valid ID cards.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the offence charged.
The case was adjourned until 23 May 2024.
