Badjie was charged with stealing motor vehicle (truck) contrary to section 255 (a) of the Criminal Code volume 3 of the revised laws of The Gambia, and he pleaded guilty to the charge, at court on Wednesday 17 April 2024.
Concurrently he was charged with forgery contrary to section 320(a) of the Criminal Code volume 3 of the revised laws of The Gambia. He, however, pleaded not guilty to the forgery charge.
The particulars of offence indicated that Yunusa Badjie on 3 April 2024 at Kanifing and diverse places in the municipality stole a truck with the registration number BJL 3083R valued at D800,000 being the property of one Sheikh Gaye.
The prosecution further alleged that Yunusa on 2 April 2024 at Serrekunda in the Kanifing Municipality purportedly made a false document knowing and believing such document was to change the ownership of a person, which he knew and believed to be false.
After his plea, the prosecutor, Sub-Inspector Jallow, sought for an adjournment to brief the court with facts on count one before conviction and sentence, and also to provide witnesses on count two.
Magistrate Colley in his ruling granted the application of the prosecution, and the matter was adjourned till 22 April 2024.
