Speaking to The Fatu Network, Njie described the alliance as a historic moment, saying President Barrow will officially welcome GDC leader Mama Kandeh and his supporters into the NPP.
The alliance comes after the collapse of the Coalition 2026 talks, with the United Democratic Party (UDP) withdrawing from the negotiations while saying it remains open to other opposition alliances.
The NPP believes the addition of Kandeh and the GDC significantly boosts President Barrow’s re-election bid ahead of the polls.
