During his testimony, he revealed that he received fifty thousand dalasis (D50,000) from Lamin Y.F.A. Mboge, a contractor, following instructions from the council’s Chief Executive Officer, Momodou Sambou.
“After receiving the money, I took it to CEO Sambou,” he said.
Kujabi further disclosed that the payment was part of a broader kickback arrangement orchestrated by senior officials.
He testified that the funds were distributed among four officials, with Kujabi and the Finance Director each receiving twenty thousand dalasis (D20,000), ten thousand (D10,000) for the Procurement Officer, and fifty thousand (D50,000) for CEO Sambou. He also disclosed that contractors inflated project costs to compensate for the bribes they were expected to pay.
In a different development, Isatou Jawara, Managing Director of AGIB, testified before the Local Government Commission regarding the bank’s role in financing the Mbalit Project.
She clarified that AGIB partnered with Espace Motors on a profit-sharing basis to finance the project and had no direct dealings with the Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC).
Jawara explained that AGIB assessed the project's viability before financing the purchase of 19 Mbalit trucks but did not extend a credit facility to Espace Motors.
The Commission requested documentation on the project, questioning its viability. Lead Counsel Patrick Gomez challenged her claim that the project was viable.
