Speaking to The Point, Mr. Sey, billboards advertiser, said that since 2021, some cases of stolen and cutting of billboards along the Banjul/Serekunda and Brikama Highway have been reported.
"These billboard thieves would disembark on highways on Sundays or any other day after six o'clock in the evening when the public close from work and do their dubious act," he alleged.
Mr. Sey described the act as very disheartening, saying it’s hard to bear after registering a business with the National Roads Authority (NRA) and paying taxes, buy the materials; employ labourers to construct a billboard in order to earn a living, and it is finally taken away.
He told The Point that these acts of vandalising billboards were reported to different police stations including Kairaba Police Station and New Yundum Police Station as well as Denton Bridge Police Station but the matter remains unresolved.
